The Confidence to "Seek Wanderful" ✈️
I'm reinventing myself (again) and invite you to come along for the ride as I pivot from "career confidence" content to intentional living and travel stories so you can "Seek Wanderful."
Dear readers,
Since my last post about my navigating my second layoff, many amazing and soul-crushing things happened.
The amazing 💖
I traveled to Japan for two weeks in April. In May, I spent a month abroad exploring Tunisia, Rome, and Sicily.
I grew my Danmei audio drama podcast to 23K+ downloads and 1K+ subscribers in less than 6 months. (If you like Danmei, let me know and I’ll share a link).
I landed a gig at Netflix headquarters to host a workshop about self-advocacy and confidence in the workplace.
I was approached for several jobs on LinkedIn without applying because my profile was optimized.
I met up with a friend IRL for the first time after working together, remotely, for three years.
The soul-crushing 💔
I lost my phone four days into my Japan trip. (I replaced it when I got back to the USA, but still ).
Two weeks ago, my LinkedIn account got hacked and I am still unable to access it. LinkedIn support has yet to provide any support because *checks notes* they are experiencing an uptick in help requests. FYI, I don’t know anything about crypto.
For jobs I have applied to on my own, or were referred it, I received many rejections.
I made it to the final round of the company I was truly adamant about joining but was not offered the job. So I am now hitting 5 months unemployed. I’d be less devastated if there weren’t so many steps involved, (Screening call —> A lengthy take-home project —> Hiring Manager call —> Three additional interviews with three different team members), and if I didn’t genuinely enjoy every person with whom I spoke with.
My journey to “Seek Wanderful” in life ☀️
Life is not without ups, downs, and changes.
I mentioned before on Instagram and TikTok that I’ve started doing more of what brings me joy.
Aside from my setbacks, I’ve been busy rebranding and prepping for the launch of my new intentional living and travel blog called “Seek Wanderful,” with a focus on helping others live joyfully on their own terms.
While I’ll still occasionally post about career-related topics, I’ll be placing a greater emphasis on finding your own definition of meaningful work than crushing career goals.
The confidence to re-invent ⚙️
I’ve always believed, and still believe, everyone deserves to live the life they truly desire. In moments of self-doubt, I encourage you to shameless self-reflect and grant yourself permission to pivot or pause.
If change is the only constant in life, this is your reminder that you’re free to reinvent yourself as many times as you want.
I encourage you to all shameless self-reflect and grant yourself permission to pivot or pause.
What this means for you 🫶🏾
If you’re interested in keeping up with my travel adventures and personal stories about the joys in life, you don’t need to do anything. You’re already subscribed to my newsletter. You’ll notice a change in my newsletter name soon.
My new blog Seekwanderful.com should go live on August 1 if I have all my posts edited, optimized, and uploaded by then.
If that’s not the type of content you’re here for, be sure to update your subscriber preferences. Curate your space; no hard feelings!
Whether you continue on this ride with me, or this is your stop, I wish for you all to always “seek wanderful” and joyful journeys in life.
Not sure how? Be on the lookout for my next post!
